Evaluation 4 : What have you learned from your audience feedback

Following on from my AS, I have realised that the feedback that you get from your audience is very crucial, if majority of the audience member does not like your product then there is no chance of it selling and making a good profit!
I feel that in AS I didn’t really get the importance of audience feedback and therefore didn't really put as much of an effort into it as I possibly could of. This year I was determined to change that, I done this through starting my audience from very early on, around October time I made a questionnaire and asked the general public specific facts about themselves and their musical interests.  This allowed me to produce thorough results in my research, by analysing my findings I found that there were relationships between people’s age, ethnicity and even where they lived e.g. there was a pattern with people who lived in North London that like Dancehall music . From this I was able to conduct a graph of my findings.
In the end my group decided to choose Estelle featuring Janelle Monae – Do My Thing, due to its fun, bouncy nature.
Our target audience was mainly aimed for 14 to 18 year old of mainly a girl skew, due to the artists being female and the image that they portrayed.
In the cinema the majority of the audience was aged 17-18 so it fitted in with our target audience , there was generally positive reviews, with majority of the people saying.it was FUN meaning that what i wanted to achieve from the beginning , a lot of people commented on our mise en scene and how this was our strongest part of the video i do believe so as we took a high interest into what we should wear . Although most of our reviews were positive i was worried that they could be possibly a bit bias as the feedback was mostly given by our peers however i have found people who have provided me with constructive criticism. For my ancillary i was told by 2 people that they would of preferred my advert to be more colorful just like my digipak .
I can see where they are coming from but i chose to go for a more plain advert because the advert provides information about the group so i wanted it to be clear and not distract from the group. However i do understand that audience preference is absolutely vital and if i did change anything i would probably change the off white background to maybe a baby , pale pink , just to give it a bit more colour
Furthermore another person said they really liked the colours of my digipak but wished that i had made the name 'NME' more distinct , if i could go back i would possibly make the album name smaller so that the artists name sticks out even more, because the most important thing is the artist..

I liked Tamara's she gave positive as well as constructive criticism , she said " she feels we should have a serious scene " which i fully agree with , we actually did have a serious scene (nighttime in 'glamorous' clothing) however due to lighting we could not include. There was one thing i didn't agree with is that we should have more people in the video , the only reason why i disagree with this point is because NME are debut artists to be honest they need all the spotlight on them !! as we all know music videos are there to promote the artist.
From all the audience feedback i have received over the last couple of months i  am extremely pleased !
Even when I was in the cinema and i could see everyone dancing and clapping i felt really happy as thats what the music video is suppose to make people do.
By doing AS and A2 Media i have learnt that without audience feedback you have nothing , because you probably will not have an audience to show meaning that your product will not sell. Audience feedback provided me with knowledge and understanding that i probably never had before i took this course.  The way in which people sell their products is really interesting but i think the most shocking thing i have learnt is that even if you are an artist it comes down to what your audience likes and what they want , in order for you to make it big you need to listen to them !
If i was to do my A2 media coursework again i will take into consideration all of the criticisms to better my work as there is always room for improvement, the constructive criticism was , ironically the best critisims i received as it was straight to the point , meaning if i was to this again i would have what my audience said in mind and work on improving so that if they saw it again they would be even more impressed with the changes.

Audience feedback from facebook , with generally positive comments ( which again could be bias as they are my peers)
